Print the layout you like on thick paper.

How to make a box from a sheet of paper with your own hands?

There are many different ways, we will introduce you to some of the simplest and most convenient ones.

First way. How to make a simple box?

For this method we need a piece of paper. It is better to take thick paper, or even cardboard, so the box will be more stable.

1. We make markings on the sheet. It should be divided into 9 rectangular parts.

2. Using scissors, we make cuts in the right places (see photo).

3. We make folds along all the drawn lines and fold the box.

Second way. How to make a square box with a lid?

To make such a beautiful box, we will have to put in more effort.

1. First of all we need to make a template. It can be printed on a computer or drawn on paper by hand. We’ll immediately think about the size, what paper we’ll draw on and other issues.

2. We cut out our shape and make cuts and folds according to the diagram. The dotted lines in the diagram indicate the place for folds, the places sketched with lines indicate the places for gluing. For gluing, prepare double-sided tape. If the paper is too thick, for better bending, you can make a creasing (applying a straight groove on a sheet of paper).

3. We apply double-sided tape to the gluing areas (see photo).

4. Before assembling the box, you can decorate it with different elements. Then you can glue it.

Third way. How to make a box case?

In this case, it is also better to use thick paper or cardboard.

1. Print the box template or draw it by hand on a piece of paper.

In this master class we will look at several ways to make DIY paper box. The first method is a little more complicated, and the second is very easy.

The first method is an origami box made of paper.

To make such a box we need scissors and two pieces of paper. The first one is 21.5x21.5 centimeters in size, this will be the lid of the box. The second sheet measures 21.2x21.2 centimeters, so this will be the bottom part. As you noticed, the sizes of the sheets are not very different, and if you don’t have a ruler on hand, I advise you to choose sheets so that one of them is slightly smaller. The folding method for the top and bottom is the same. That is why we will consider making only one part of origami with our own hands. To make the box stronger, we recommend using thicker paper, such as cardboard. Let's get started with our instructions.

1 . Draw 2 diagonal lines. The easiest way is to do it with a ruler and pencil.

2 . We bend one corner to the center of the square, as shown in the photo.

3 . Then we bend the same side in half. The edge should lie exactly along the diagonal line.

4 . After we have ironed the fold lines, we unfold everything back.

5 . We perform exactly the same procedure described in paragraphs 2-4 with the remaining corners.

6 . We cut 2 corners with scissors, as shown in the picture.

7 . We bend the side corners towards the center. So that they converge at the central point of the square.

8 . Raise the side walls of the box. Since we have made all the necessary folds, this step will not cause you any difficulties.

9 . Next we begin to form the walls. To do this, bend the edges towards each other as in the diagram.

10 . Now we put the edges that we trimmed inside the box with our own hands.

11 . Now the lid for the gift box is ready. All that remains is to make the bottom.

12 . The bottom is made in exactly the same way. We advise you to carefully select paper. Basically, paper of a single color is selected for the lower part. And for the top paper with various designs.

13 . Additionally, you can add solemnity to the gift box with your own hands by decorating it with a beautiful ribbon.

This box is much easier to make than the previous origami. To make it you do not need scissors and a ruler. All you need is to select a sheet of paper of standard size A4, A3, A2, depending on what kind of box you want to get as a result. For example, from an A4 sheet you get a box measuring 10x10.5 centimeters. We will also consider only making one box module with our own hands. Since both parts are assembled according to the same principle. Don't forget the bottom of the box should be a little smaller.

1 . Place the sheet in front of you, with the long side facing you.

2 . Make 2 fold lines, you should get 3 equal shapes.

3 . Fold the right rectangle in half as shown in the photo.

4 . Do the same with the left rectangle.

5 . We bend the corners on both sides from the top and bottom, as shown in the pictures.

6 . We turn the sheet over and do the same thing. On the one hand, the corners should be single-layer, on the other, two layers of paper.

7 . Having bent all 8 corners, we unfold the workpiece, with the corners facing inward.

8 . Let's proceed to the most important stage, we need to evenly open the box.

9 . Forming the ribs. You can do this yourself. Make sure that the sides are approximately the same size.

10 . In this simple and quick way we made one part of the origami box.

11 . In the same way we assemble the second part of the box. Don't forget that one of the origami parts should be a little smaller.

First, you'll need to roughly estimate the size of your gift, taking into account several important factors such as height, gift thickness, and gluing allowances. We will take these dimensions as the basis when making our own New Year's boxes.

The sharp ends of the box need to be bent inward, towards the center of the bottom square. Using the remaining uncurved ends, we grab the bent ones and wrap them inward. This will be our cover.

We make the second box using the same principle, and due to the fact that this square is one centimeter smaller, the box will close perfectly. Moreover, if you are thinking about how best to make a beautiful box for a gift, then for the other half of the box, take thick paper, not cardboard.

Such a home-made box will fit a gift measuring 5 or 6 cm and up to 3 cm high, i.e. approximately the size that could fit in your palm. If the gift is very small, and you don’t want it to dangle in the box like a rattle filler, then you can put light tissue paper on the bottom, prudently crumpling it.

A simple napkin would be a more convenient alternative. As you have seen, making such a small gift box is not at all difficult.

Such a box with a gift inside should be tied with a ribbon or a beautiful ribbon.

And since making such packaging boxes is not difficult, we want to show a few more options.

Decorating ready-made boxes

The easiest way is to decorate a finished box of a suitable size. This can be done in different ways. For decoration, colored paper, bows, decorative flowers, beads, sparkles, pieces of lace, elegant braid, etc. are used.

You will need to decide for yourself how best to decorate the box, depending on the reason for the gift and the personality of the recipient. It is clear that if a gift is being made for a girl, you can use more decorative elements. And if this is a gift for a man, it is better to show restraint. If desired, you can use a photo of the person for whom the gift is intended to decorate the box.

When decorating, it is advisable to emphasize for what reason the gift is being given. For example, if it is the New Year holidays, then use snowflakes, Christmas tree cones, tinsel, etc. in decoration.

Simple box

It is not always possible to find a ready-made box of the right size, so you can very easily fold a box from paper or cardboard.

Even a child can make the simplest version of the box; to make it you will need:

cardboard (preferably colored);

ruler;

pencil;

scissors;

hole puncher;

ribbon.

If you don’t have colored cardboard on hand, you can cover ordinary white cardboard with colored paper.

First of all, you need to draw a template on a sheet of cardboard:

in the center of the sheet you need to draw a square, this will be the bottom of our box;

now on each side of the square we draw four more squares of the same size as the first, we have a figure resembling a cross;

Now we carefully round the upper corners of the four squares (except for the central one).

To get it straight, you should use a template or compass:

the resulting template should be cut out and the side parts bent upward;

in the upper part of each side part, holes should be punched with a hole punch;

thread a ribbon through the holes and tie it with a bow.

You can decorate such a homemade box to your liking using rhinestones, beads, and ribbon bows. But using the technology described, it is worth making only a small box, since a large one will not hold its shape.

Square box

To make a rectangular, or rather square, box from colored paper with your own hands, you will have to tinker. Here is a description of the work sequence:

take a square sheet of thin cardboard or colored paper;

draw two lines diagonally with a pencil;

bend one of the corners of the square so that the corner falls exactly at the point of intersection of the diagonal lines;

a second time we bend the same edge of the cardboard square so that the edge of the fold falls on the diagonal line;

We do the same with all the other corners of the square;

as a result, we got a sheet divided into small squares by fold lines;

draw a bottom contour in the center, consisting of four squares;

Now make cuts from two opposite corners to the intended bottom.

Now we begin to fold the box, the assembly diagram is as follows:

fold the square from the wide (uncut) sides with the corners towards the center;

then raise the sides;

fold the paper on the wide side, forming the two remaining sides of the box;

Now we wrap the cut out parts of the square, finally forming a box.

If you need to make a lid for the resulting package, you need to make a slightly larger box in the same way. That is, at the first stage, make a square 3-5 mm larger than the first.

Having mastered this technique, you can learn how to make boxes of various shapes: in the form of a pyramid, cone, cylinder, etc.

Book-shaped box

Today, instead of a material gift, the hero of the occasion is often given money; a box made in the shape of a book is very suitable for a monetary gift. Let's look at how it can be done:

first of all, you need to make a rectangular box of the required size from cardboard; it is important that the bills that you plan to give fit freely into it;

Now you should start assembling the “binding”. To do this, cut out two rectangular sheets of cardboard in length and width 1 cm larger than the manufactured box. You also need to cut out another strip, its length should be equal to the length of the sheets, and the width should be 0.5 cm greater than the height of the box made;

we take the material from which we will make the binding, it can be plain or colored paper, thick fabric (for example, denim) or artificial leather;

We lay out the blanks on the material, placing a narrow strip between two cardboard sheets. The gaps between the parts are 2 mm, a three-centimeter allowance is left at the edges;

glue the cardboard to the material and cut out the blank along the marked lines, cutting off the corners;

now we need to wrap up the allowances and glue them to the cardboard, we have a semblance of a book binding;

We glue the previously made box onto one of the inner surfaces of the binding;

We glue ribbons in the center of the top and bottom “lids”, with the help of which our box will be closed.

Now all that remains is to decorate the top part of our book box. You can decorate it with flowers and bows, beads and sparkles. The exclusive box is ready.

Of course, you will have to tinker with making gift wrapping. Perhaps not everything will work out the first time, but with a little practice, you will be able to make unique packaging that will not be found anywhere else.
