DIY kanzashi dahlia

In order to make such a dahlia from ribbons, we need such accessories, namely:

  • several shades satin ribbons;
  • soldering iron;
  • glue;
  • ruler;
  • thick cardboard or a piece of plastic for the main part;
  • tweezers.

Take satin ribbons and draw a ruler on them, squares, each five centimeters wide. Using a soldering iron, they must be cut. As a result, from three different tapes, you should get 120 things.

It is necessary to solder the corner of each square at an angle of 40 degrees, only with the wrong side to the inside, as in the photo.

Take one square and put it in front of you, bend the edges butt to joint, as shown in our photo, using transparent textile glue.

These are the petals we should get after the work done.

Take a thick cardboard or plastic cover and cut out a circle from it, about five centimeters in diameter.
Now, we start gluing the petals to our circle. We will make a three-dimensional dahlia, so the first tier is glued with layering on the half of the next blank. But it's up to you and your taste. In total, four rows of petals should turn out, and the middle can be decorated with a large bead or rhinestone. Our kanzashi dahlia is ready.

With the help of different colored ribbons, you can make any variations of kanzashi dahlias, as well as select the required size and volume. A master class (mk) will help create interesting flowers, but you also have to use your imagination. And with this you will be helped by an interesting video, located on our portal.

Ready-made dahlias can be sewn onto elastic bands or glued to headbands, and used as hair ornaments for little princesses.

Miniature dahlia kanzashi

This master class (mk) is very simple to perform. Step-by-step photos will help you not get confused in the process of creating a flower.
In order to make it, let's decide on a suitable material, for this, we need:

  • satin ribbon and fabric;
  • glue for textiles;
  • beads;
  • soldering iron;
  • ruler;
  • sharp scissors;
  • simple pencil.

In order to make a small kanzashi dahlia, we need a satin ribbon, as in the photo. Cut it into strips with scissors, each ten centimeters long.

Take a few strips, fold them together, and use a soldering iron to cut off the edge of the tape, triangular in shape. Use a simple metal ruler. Attach it to the strips and remove excess soldering irons, as shown in the photo.

These are the blanks that should be obtained at the end of such work.

Take the strips and connect them to each other, adjusting the thickness of the petal.

We need the line's help. It must be applied and the unnecessary edge removed with a soldering iron.

See what wonderful petals should turn out.

Let's start putting everything together. From a piece of satin, cut out a circle of any diameter. The size depends on your preferences and desires.
Use a pencil to draw these circles on it. After that, we begin to glue the dahlia petals. We do this from the very edge, smoothly moving to the core in a checkerboard pattern.

The middle can be decorated with small and elegant pearls of various shapes. Now our kanzashi dahlia is ready, and the master class (mk) is fully completed. Headbands with flowers from ribbons using the kanzashi technique (photo) Kanzashi chamomile from satin ribbons (photo and video)

Flowers made using the kanzashi technique are mainly used as spectacular hair ornaments in the form of elastic bands, headbands, hoops, hairpins and. But you can also make a lush color of a dahlia or.

In today's lesson, we will look at several options for creating a spectacular dahlia from ribbons. Using the kanzashi technique, the dahlia turns out to be especially lush and beautiful. Step by step master class contains a video and photo of the step-by-step process of making a flower.

This master class (MK) will consider the step-by-step process of creating a petal for a dahlia, as well as its assembly. It can be done quite quickly and simply. The lesson should begin, as usual, with the selection of the necessary materials and tools. So, get ready for work:

  • satin ribbon 2.5 centimeters wide in a suitable shade;
  • soldering iron;
  • ceramic tiles or glass;
  • ruler;
  • scissors;
  • glue.

In order to make a dahlia from ribbons, cut a satin ribbon into strips nine and eight centimeters long, twenty pieces each, respectively. The resulting segments must be folded at an angle of ninety degrees. Next, you need to fold this element again. As a result, we get the following petal, folded on the front side, as in the photo:

In the next step, we need a soldering iron. We take a ceramic tile and solder it with it. The photo shows better where to carry out this process correctly. Also for these purposes, you can use a candle or a lighter.

Thus, we make the number of petals you need for your dahlia. The more such blanks you make, the more magnificent your flower will look.

Further, the master class proceeds to the assembly of the dahlia kanzashi. We are preparing a template, on the basis of which, using a soldering iron, it is necessary to cut a circle with a diameter of four centimeters. This diameter of the circle will allow you to place about ten petals on it. After that, we sequentially begin to solder blanks of satin petals along the borders of the circle. The first row consists of blanks made from nine centimeter segments in the amount of ten pieces. The next row is soldered among the first and consists of the same amount. This row is also soldered among the petals of the previous one. The next are five petals of eight centimeters each and the remaining two rows of five parts are fixed with glue. This way you will close the ugly places left from the soldering iron.

This MK is completed, and you can admire what a beautiful ribbon dahlia you can get from satin ribbons.

Dahlia with sharp petals

Another master class will show you the step-by-step creation of a dahlia with sharp petals. This lesson is equipped with step-by-step, which is especially suitable for beginners. Who are just mastering the kanzashi technique.

In order to make a dahlia from ribbons, prepare:

  • wide and narrow satin ribbon of suitable shades;
  • scissors;
  • soldering iron;
  • glue.

Creating a dahlia using the kanzashi technique begins with cutting the ribbon into squares. We make segments of five centimeters. All you need to cook:

  • three green elements five by five centimeters;
  • ten - pink (5x5);
  • twenty - pink (2.5x5).

Having made all the blanks, we take a soldering iron. First, fold the petals in half with the wrong side inward. Next, using a metal ruler, you need to cut off the corner, thus making the petal of a sharp shape. After that, it is soldered with a soldering iron. The next step is to bend the ends to the outer part (closer to the center) and cut them off again with a palnik.

We carry out similar actions with all the petals. We make as many petals as you need for your dahlia. For work, it is best to use a five cm wide tape.

To make the base for the dahlia, cut off two squares of green tape, on which we apply glue on the wrong side. Glue and smooth them. From this blank, it is necessary to cut a circle and singe the edges.

The art of kanzashi originated in medieval Japan, where every lady wore massive jewelry made from precious pieces of Chinese silk. Each element had a deep sacred meaning - the color, the size, and the number of decorations in the hairstyle were important. Once in Europe, the ancient art was transformed and ceased to be of a religious nature. Modern kanzashi art involves the creation of jewelry for hairstyles, hairpins, headbands, brooches, and interior items. We invite you to master the master class on dahlias from a satin ribbon, which replaced the traditional pieces of silk. Created artificial buds can be used to make hairpins or brooches, make curtain ties. This entertaining activity will not leave you indifferent and will bring a lot of pleasure.

A little about the flower

Dahlia is a guest from sunny Mexico. Surprisingly, we are accustomed to this plant as a beautiful garden dweller, and the ancient Indians used its rhizomes to prepare various dishes, treat serious diseases. The hollow stems of the dahlia, or dahlia as it is otherwise called, were used to swim underwater as breathing tubes.

When the European conquerors sailed to America, the Indians introduced them to dahlia as a food crop. The samples brought to Europe did not arouse appetite even among gourmets from France, but the multi-colored heads of the plant were very fond of gardeners. Breeders used the botanical species to produce a mass of hybrids. At the moment, there are over 15 thousand varieties of amazing dahlia. They are selected into groups depending on the structure of the flower basket. The most popular are pompon, spherical and needle dahlias.

And one more interesting fact about the Mexican guest. We are used to seeing bushes from 40 to 150 cm high, decorated with bright heads. But in nature there is a wild-growing species of dahlia Imperialis, whose height reaches 6 meters!

needle dahlia

We invite you to study a master class on making a fantasy blue needle dahlia flower. Why fantasy? The fact is that in nature there are no dahlias with blue buds and the work of breeders in this area has not yet been successful.

To create a flower you will need:

  • blue satin ribbon 5 cm wide;
  • sharp scissors;
  • tweezers;
  • round felt base;
  • candle;
  • hot glue;
  • thin white ribbons and beads for decoration.

The number of flower petals that you will make depends on the desired splendor of the bud.

Cut the blue ribbon into 10cm rectangles.

Fold along the long side facing inward. Remove the piece at an angle to the fold as shown in the photo.

At the received part, melt the edges by soldering them together.

Turn inside out, turn away from you and fold both edges to the middle.

Connect the edges by heating over the flame of a candle, lighter.

Tuck the protruding center inward. The petal is ready.

Prepare the required number of elements and proceed with the assembly.

Carefully glue the first row of blue petals to the felt mug.

Arrange the second row of the whisk in a checkerboard pattern.

Glue beads in the middle of the bud, satin ribbons of a contrasting shade.

Fantasy blue dahlia is ready! It will make a luxurious brooch, just attach the appropriate fittings to the base.

scarlet bud

Making a pompon dahlia with an interesting petal shape is very simple. Follow the instructions with the photo, and you will definitely succeed.

For work, take:

  • scarlet satin ribbon 2.5 cm wide;
  • sharp scissors;
  • a piece of green ribbon;
  • large bead;
  • tweezers and soldering iron;
  • glue ("Moment", hot).

Prepare 10 blanks of scarlet ribbon 8 and 9 cm long. Fold the blank at a right angle, then again.

On the front side of the petal, make two folds, tucking the edges to the middle. Handle with a soldering iron.

Process each workpiece.

Using a soldering iron, cut a circle with a diameter of 4 cm from a cut of a green ribbon.

Solder the petals onto the workpiece, placing them in rows from large to smaller.

Each subsequent row should fill the empty spaces of the previous one.

The last petals are attached with glue.

To hide the middle, glue a large bead.

A lush scarlet bud is ready! It can be successfully used to decorate the rim or glued to a tape and make a curtain tie-back.

holly dahlia

Another option for making a lush basket with sharp petals.

You will need all the same materials, only you need a pink ribbon 5 cm wide and 2.5 cm wide. You also need three green squares with a side of 5 cm.

Fold the cut pieces 5 cm long in half with the right side out. Cut the edge at an acute angle, process with a soldering iron.

Bright blue and white dahlia made from satin ribbons is conceived as a school uniform, but you can use other shades as a basis.

A lush kanzashi flower is adorned with an original center piece with a rhinestone silver chain. The diameter of the finished product is 11 cm. The decoration is too large for an elastic band, so it is better to make it on a clip. You can make two flowers on the ponytails, and then the hairstyle will not go unnoticed by others. If the haircut is short, use the decor for the bag.

flower materials

To make one dahlia, you need a satin ribbon:

  • 76 pieces of white color - 2.5 * 4 cm;
  • 76 pieces of blue - 2.5 * 3.5 cm;
  • 6 pieces of white - 2.5 * 3 cm;

A master class on making a dahlia from kanzashi-style ribbons was prepared by Svetlana Sorokina by order of the online magazine Women's Hobbies.

Kanzashi are Japanese traditional women's hair clips. These flowers are made from fabric and satin ribbons. The material is cut into squares, from which the petals are formed. You can make flowers both single-layer and multi-layer, for example, dahlia.

The emergence of this technique

This type of decoration has been used for over 400 years. These decorations were worn with a kimono. Kanzashi were made from silver, wood, etc. A special place is occupied by Hana kanzashi - these are hairpins with fabric flowers. These hairpins were made of silk. The petals were folded to form wonderful flowers. One of these flowers is the kanzashi dahlia.

Today we will make MK dahlia kanzashi variety "Natalie" - this is one of the most beautiful varieties of this flower.

Dahlia kanzashi varieties "Natalie"

To create such a flower you will need:

First, cut 96 pieces 5 cm long. Trim the corner on one side.

Now you need to carefully singe the edges on both sides.

Start collecting flowers. To do this, take one piece and fold the uncut edges inward with an overlap.

Repeat this step for all leaves. Mark exactly four points on Fet.

Glue four petals on the marked points, and then 12 more petals. In general, there should be 16 pieces in the first row.

For the seventh row, you need to glue two petals at the base. In this row there will be stamens and petals mixed. You need 20 petals and 10 paired petals.

All right, the flower is ready. The diameter of the flower turned out to be 13 cm.

Craft from different ribbons and decorate the house. For more explanation, see the video master class at the end of the dahlia kanzashi article.

Experiment and create unusual products using the kanzashi technique. Decorate hairpins, hairpins, caskets, glasses and much more with them. With the help of the kanzashi technique, you will give yourself a unique look and attract all the attention to yourself.

Layering will give the dahlia a unique look that will make the flower come to life.
