DIY toys made from threads and glue. A variety of thread crafts in photo tutorials. Step-by-step explanation of the creation process (81 photos). What will be useful at work

If you have some yarn left over after knitting, I’m ready to tell you what DIY yarn crafts you can make from it. Almost all the works are simple, even a child can make them. To make others, the kids will need your help. I think such children's crafts will decorate the interior of your home, will be useful for toddlers for competitions and exhibitions, or will be excellent gifts for friends and family.

DIY yarn pompom

I decided to start with 3 ways to make pompoms. They will be useful to us more than once in our future work. You can choose the option that seems most convenient to you.

Method 1. How to make a pompom from yarn with your own hands with a cardboard base

The most common way. For it we will need:

  • Thick paper (2 sheets). You can use cardboard as a base material
  • Compass
  • Scissors

How to do:

  • Draw 2 circles on paper. External - according to the size of future pom-poms. Internal - depends on how thick you want the balls to be (the narrower, the thicker), as well as on your desire (it is easier to work with a wide hole for children 5-7 years old).
  • Cut out circles. We make a hole in them.
  • We cut one side of the base so that we can wrap it with thread without any problems.
  • Next, we wind the wool.
  • We move 2 circles apart.
  • Cutting the wool.
  • We thread the thread between the circles and tie the wool.

We remove the base. Trim off the uneven edges.

Method 2. On the fork.

Plus, you don’t need to make a base. But the size of the balls will be small.

  • We wind the thread around the four tines of the fork.
  • Between the 2nd and 3rd teeth we thread a thread with which we tie the yarn.
  • Remove from the fork.
  • Cut the resulting loops of wool.

All that remains is to trim the edges.

How to make pompoms from yarn quickly

This is the easiest option pompom without cardboard base . Another plus is that you get a lot of blanks at once from which pom-poms are made. The downside is that it’s difficult (but possible) to make very curvy ones.

That's all! Let's fluff up our “balls”.

DIY crafts from yarn and threads

I'll start with pom-poms, or rather I'll continue. How can they be applied? First of all, you can use it for decoration for the holidays:, New Year,.

These can be garlands of pompoms. By the way, remember? If you haven't seen it, check out the link. It turns out very festive and bright.

And today I found some more interesting ideas:

Here are the letters, wreaths, dandelions and pom-pom trees.

Rug made of pompoms

How do you like these fluffies? You won't find these on sale! And you can make any shape. Twist pom-poms to match your favorite TV series. Just really? You can use that quick method of forming pompoms, when you wrap them around a chair and get a lot of them at once (I wrote above).

To make a pompom rug with your own hands, you will need a mesh. It can be a rubberized mesh or mesh fabric, or maybe a construction one. I once did it not on a mesh, but on a towel, I simply glued pom-poms with hot glue. It was great too. The rug served for a long time until we moved).

And with a grid it’s much easier. See for yourself.

Here, in my opinion, is the construction grid.

Crafts from yarn and threads for children

Piggy magnet

When I saw this photo, I really liked the idea for its simplicity. True, it is assumed that this work is made of cord. But you can use thick yarn or, if you are making from leftovers thin wool, weave it into a braid/chain.

  • Twist the chain into a spiral and glue it to the cardboard.
  • Cut out ears and a nickel from felt. Glue them on the piggy’s “head”.
  • Sew button eyes and beads onto the nickel.
  • Attach the cardboard to the magnet.

But this is not the last piggy. I have another model.

Fluffy pig

And again you will need a pompom.

  • Glue a nickel button to it.
  • Eyes.
  • Felt ears.

A bow will look beautiful. If it’s difficult for kids, you don’t have to do the paws. But for children 10-14 years old I can do such a task. We cut them out of felt and glue them.

Bunny - rabbit

This is the case when the work looks very cool, it seems so difficult to do. But it's actually simple.

The size of the bunny will depend on the size of the square.

Horse

Now it is already clear that this is the muzzle of a horse. Glue on the eyes. Ready!

Another version of the horse. You will need two piles of thread, tie it as in the picture.

All that remains is to make the tail and mane. You can also use a felt saddle.

Thread necklace

Dove and bullfinches made of threads

I will have several options: dove and bullfinch . Using their example, I will show how you can create other birds using different coat colors.

You can also make sparrows and chickens, just by changing the colors of the threads.

Detailed MK in our video.

And here are the bullfinches in the nest. The nest is also made of threads.

It is done according to the same scheme. We just need yarn of other colors:

  • Black (back - wound along the length of the base);
  • Gray (wings - wound along the width);
  • Red (tummy - we wrap along the width of the base).

The thickness of all blanks is the same.

Titmouse master class

We will be mixing different strands of yarn! This is how we will decorate the birds.

We will need:

We make preparations:

  • We wrap burgundy wool on the wide side of the warp. Let's cut it.
  • Yellow - we wrap it on the second cardboard. We cut it too.
  • We wind white and blue together. Cut and tie in the middle.

Assembling the model:

We place burgundy and yellow bunches perpendicularly. Burgundy is at the bottom, yellow should be on top).

We bend the burgundy ones over the yellow ones.

We tie the burgundy ones with thread directly under the yellow bunch.

We bend the yellow ones at a right angle. We tie it with thread to match the color.

We place the workpiece so that there are blue threads at the bottom and our bundle at the top.

Inside the blue ones is a wad of paper.

We bend all the threads (we mask the paper between them). We tie it under the ball, leaving a tail.

Align the tail.

We form legs from wire.

We insert the paws into the tummy.

Sew on the eyes.

Glue the beak.

Angry Birds made from pompoms

Red will be first. We wrap pink yarn around 3 fingers.

Red on top.

We remove it from our fingers while pulling out the thread with which we tie the pompom.

We tie and cut the threads.

We cut the pompom so as to obtain an ovaloid.

We make eyebrows and a beak from felt, eyes from white beads, and draw pupils with a marker. And don’t forget to slightly pull out the three threads on the head - the tuft, just by gently pulling the threads in the pompom.

For blue birds we do the same thing, only we take blue threads. don't forget to cut the pompom into an oval shape.

We wrap gray, black on top, make a pompom and cut it into a ball. We make the eyebrows, beak and forelock from felt and glue them with hot glue. Bead eyes and pupils are drawn with a marker. The only peculiarity is the fluff around the eyes. To do this, we glue gray threads onto the bead with rays like a snowflake.

For the pig you will need light green yarn and felt. We make a round pompom, maybe a little oval. Glue the nose out of felt (oval), draw dots with a marker. For the eyes you will need large beads, if not, you can take any color and paint it white, put the pupil on it with a marker. We do the eyebrows. Use tweezers to pull out the strings for the ears. And you're done!

For Chuck you need white and yellow threads. We first round the pompom, then cut it into a cone. Glue the beak, eyes.

Doll

As for me, even a simplified version, without decorations and details, is interesting. But more details:

  • We wrap wool onto the base.
  • We remove and bandage. Cut off the edges of the thread
  • 2 cm below the dressing area, wrap it with thread and bandage it. This is how we formed the head.
  • Once again we wrap the wool around the base (only in a smaller size).
  • We knit this workpiece on both sides. These are hands.
  • We thread our arms through the body, under the head. We tie it right under them.

Here, as for me, the doll is ready.

But you can make her a “face” from thin felt. Sew hair on top. And, if you divide the lower part of the yarn in half and tie each half, you will get a “boy”.

Doll

Such a doll can be not just a toy, but even decoration or a Christmas tree toy.

She's not all thread, just her hair. But I liked it so much that I couldn’t pass it up.

So, for the doll you will need tulle, which we wrap on 2 cardboard circles. Then we cut and tie. In general, we make a pompom from tulle.

Next, we cover the ball with beige knitwear, using an eye shadow palette we draw cheeks, eyes, and eyebrows. We draw eyelashes with a marker. Next we do the hairstyle. We wrap the yarn around our fingers, cut it and glue it onto the crown of the doll, so that the cut edge of the thread is a bang.

Take the second bundle of thread, tie it in the middle and glue it to the bottom of the head. We lift the hair up so that it completely covers the entire back of the head and collect it in a ponytail at the top of the head. We tie it with threads.

Glue the bow, decoration, and head to the body.

You can glue a thread - a loop - on the top of the head so that the doll can be hung if necessary.

Yarn jewelry

And look how easy it is to make tassel earrings.

dream Catcher

I blogged about how to make a giant dream catcher. It is incredibly beautiful and is a worthy decor for the most expensive designer interiors.

Snood scarf in 10 minutes

New very simple pattern from the beloved Alize Puffy. We knit a snood scarf from it without knitting needles or a hook, with our own hands, in just a couple of minutes.

Wonderful pattern and video from my favorite channel.

Knitted hat and also without knitting needles.

And a gorgeous blanket

Snowflake for the New Year

We can already make pom-poms. We'll need a fairly large ball to start with.

We straighten the yarn.

First we divide into 2 halves, then in half. And then cut each part in half again. Then all 8 rays of the snowflake will be the same.

We bandage the rays, stepping back a little from the edge.

You can decorate a snowflake with beads, eyes, and embroidery.

Pillow

Do you love plush toys? I do! And I especially love to lie on them. You can make a fluffy pillowcase from leftover yarn. And it's easy to do. We wind 10-20 turns on our hand, depending on the thickness of the yarn. Remove from hand and bandage. Cut the threads. We get a skinny pompom. Now we comb it thoroughly and glue it to the base - a pillowcase using hot glue. Next, we’ll use a hair straightener and give our pillow a neat hairstyle. Ready!

Patterns, as you guessed, you can come up with yourself.

Dog made of threads

Do you love Yorkies? Or maybe your friend has such a dog.
Then you can give him such a magnet for the refrigerator.

Wreaths

We wrap yarn on a cardboard base and get an excellent basis for a wreath for any holiday. If you take yellow threads, you can make an Easter wreath.

Balls of thread

Here's how you can make a craft out of thread for Easter. We make a regular ball in the shape of an egg. We cut out the window and glue the decor.

The second option is suitable if you have a foam base. We stick pins along the contour of the window, wrap the base with film and weave a web. As you might have guessed, it is not possible to remove it from such a mold if you make a full egg at once. Therefore, we make 2 halves and at the end we tie them around the perimeter.

Letters and numbers

Need birthday decor?

We make a base out of cardboard and decorate with threads, just wrap it around!

Here are other design options:

Candy bowls

Threads make excellent vases and candy bowls.

Be sure to wrap the form in film or tape. We put the threads coated in PVA on the mold and let it harden.

Picture made of threads and nails

Recently, such paintings have become very popular.

The second option for a thread painting is gluing the threads with PVA glue. A very simple technique, and the result is beautiful!

Ordinary threads are a fairly simple material for creative ideas. In any home you can find knitting threads, of which there seem to be few left, but you still don’t feel like throwing them away. You can make interesting toys from such leftovers. The main thing is to apply patience and a creative approach to this, and then toys made from threads, quickly and simply made with your own hands, will delight the eye for a long time.

Based on the manufacturing method, several types of toys can be distinguished.

How to make toys from threads with your own hands in various versions

Let's study the first method - based on balls

In this style you can come up with a great variety of toys, it all depends on the person’s imagination. All you need to create them is thread, a balloon, glue and Vaseline.

To make a toy, you need to inflate the ball and coat it with Vaseline, so that at the end of the work you can easily remove the ball. Next, you need to wrap the ball with threads. There are two methods for obtaining adhesive thread. At first, you need to pierce a hole in a bottle of glue with a needle and pass a thread through it, so that the thread will be lubricated with glue, and its excess will remain in the bottle. In the second method, the threads are dipped in a bowl of glue. In this case, you will have to remove excess glue with your fingers. Of course, the first method looks more neat.

Once all the balls for the craft are ready, you can fasten them together. There are a lot of options for making beautiful toys, for example, a gray bunny, a brown bear, a sun or a chicken. To complete the look, you can attach eyes, ears, and a tail from colored paper. If you involve children in this entertaining work, you can come up with animals based on the fairy tale and stage a whole performance. They will definitely be delighted.

Let's look at the following type of manufacturing - winding threads on a frame

This process is quite difficult to master, since you first need to make a frame. A good material for this would be a wine cork and wire. In addition, you will need threads and glue.
Stages of making a toy:
1) Prepare the frame. The body of the toy can be made from cork or wire; a piece of foam plastic will also work well.
2) Wrap the frame with threads. As in the previous method, the threads need to be secured with glue and wound well around the frame. After some time, the toy will gain strength.
3) Create decor. Here you need to add small details of the toy, you can also simply draw them with a marker.
3) Make clothes. Of course, this stage is not at all necessary. However, you can sew or knit tiny clothes. Such a toy will acquire its own personality.

We make the third type of toys - based on pompoms

Making pompoms is very easy. The materials for them are as follows: thread, scissors and a piece of cardboard. You need to make two rings from cardboard. Next, you need to fold the rings and wind the threads tightly around them. The more threads are wound, the more magnificent the pompom will be. Then carefully cut the threads along the outer edge. If the winding is quite tight, the threads will remain in place. After this, you need to thread a thread between the cardboards and tie everything into a strong bundle. Then all that remains is to remove the cardboard and straighten the threads. The toy is ready, all that remains is to add a few details.

Let's study step by step the fourth method - knitting

One of the most popular ways to create toys is to make them yourself using knitting. It will be easy for a novice needlewoman to cope with the work if she knows the pattern. Toys made from knitting threads can be very funny and interesting. Such products can be a wonderful gift.

The easiest and, one might say, ideal option for a beginner is a tied kinder container. This type of work does not require much time to complete. After tying, all that remains is to create the decor, that is, make a nose, ears, mouth, tail and other elements. Wonderful toys will be made in the form of a cat, a bee, a train, a caterpillar, a chicken, a bunny, and a dog.

More experienced knitters can try something more difficult. For example, knitting a toy entirely from yarn. There is a very suitable type of yarn for this activity, which is called “grass”. This yarn is a thread from which small hairs of very different lengths stick out. It is quite inexpensive and well suited for manual work. Many people buy it only because of its appearance, and then they start thinking about what to make.
This yarn makes very soft and fluffy toys. It’s worth trying to do at least one; any child will appreciate the result. Just first you need to decide which yarn to use to create a particular toy. Teddy bear is one of the most famous toys for children, and it is made from just such yarn.

Here are the basic methods of making toys from threads. And if there is a child in the family, then a handmade toy will bring him only joy and pleasure, because such work will be done with interest and love.

Video on the topic of the article

In order to make toys from threads, great skill and experience are not required. You just have to watch the master class on this video.

How to make a toy from threads? From ordinary threads you can make original toys to decorate any display, from a Christmas tree to a tabletop ikebana. And the toys themselves can be of various shapes, from simple geometric figures in the form of a ball, to more complex figures in the form of animals and birds. Having made such light, translucent toys, you can make an original New Year's garland by integrating LED light bulbs inside the toys.

First you need to make a frame of the very toy you want to make. Start with the simplest thing to understand the principle itself, that is, the technology for assembling such a toy.

Let's make a New Year's ball - a cobweb. To do this you will need:

- a skein of thread, any kind, from cotton, “snowflake” type to woolen for knitting. And choose the color yourself, from white to dark blue;

- PVA glue;

- air balloons;

- brush.

That's all, you can get to work. Let's inflate balloons, the diameter of which can be 6-10 cm. We tie the tail of the ball, and then apply a thin, even layer of any fatty massage-type cream to its surface. We do this so that later it would be easy to remove the remaining balls from the finished toy. Then we start winding the thread around the ball. The thread should be well saturated with glue on all sides. But how to do this? There are several options. You can place the entire ball in a container with glue, and then carefully wrap it around the ball. (19)

But with this method, it is better to work with rubber gloves, since excess glue will regularly flow down your fingers. There is another method, in our opinion, already more modernized. Take a tube of PVA glue (small) and with a gypsy needle, in which a thread has already been threaded, pierce the bottle through and pull the thread through it. Thus, winding the thread around the ball, it will pass through the tube of glue. We wind the thread (chaotically) around the ball, not too tightly, but without any slack. Placed sparse stitches will visually give the ball airiness and weightlessness, and tightly winding the thread will create a denser cocoon. Then, using a brush, coat the entire ball well with glue. And in a suspended state, away from heating devices, we leave our ball to dry. The process of complete drying of the glue will take about a day. Then carefully deflate the rubber ball and pull out its remains. If you can’t deflate it, just heat it, and then you can easily remove it from the thread cocoon of the finished ball. (16,17,18)

You can decorate a New Year tree with these wonderful handmade balls. The balls themselves can also be decorated with any decor: sprinkle with sparkles, palettes, glass beads, glue on multi-colored bows and appliqués. (1,2, and 5-13)

Content

Once you get acquainted with the process of making this cute creature, you can understand the principle of working with such figurines and independently master the production of other thread pets. After all, in fact, the sequence of operations is always repeated, only the decorative details are changed, some materials and tools are added or, conversely, become unnecessary.

DIY thread toys

First, using a utility knife, you need to press the wine cork into the shape of the body of the future animal. To do this, on one side, cutting off small pieces, the cork is made half as thin, and the opposite edge is slightly rounded.

Now it's time to work on the skeleton of the rat: its paws, tail and frame for the head and nose. Having attached the wire to the body of the toy, measure and use wire cutters to cut off blanks for the head, front and hind legs, as well as a longer piece for the tail. The wire for the paws is passed through the cork, resulting in right and left paws at once. The tail also passes through the body, but is secured at the front with a small hook at the tip.

The last piece of wire is inserted into the upper part of the body; it will become a blank for the head and the famous rat nose. To make it more expressive, you need to glue a tailor's pin with a ball head to the end of the wire. To do this, both the wire and the pin itself are coated with instant glue, connected, and when the glue begins to set, the structure is tightly wrapped with sewing thread for strength.

If you don’t have a pin with a black or brown head on hand, you can use any one. The plastic can be easily painted with a permanent marker or acrylic paints in any color.

When the nose is glued, the head blank is again coated with glue and string or twine is wound around the wire so that the resulting structure begins to resemble a streamlined rat's head with a long, curious nose.

The tip of the twine needs to be placed on the glue, and you can begin to wrap the limbs and tail of the animal. To do this, the wire is again smeared with glue, but now it is not twine that is wound around it, but the thread chosen to create the rat’s fur. The turns should be made as dense and frequent as possible.

To make a palm, the already wrapped ends of the wire are bent, and after coating with glue, they are wrapped again with thread. The tip of the thread is again placed on the glue.

The same sequence of operations is performed when creating all paws. When you wind the thread around the tail, you don’t need to bend its tip, you just need to make sure that it remains as thin as possible, as is customary with mice and rats, but the base will have to be made a little thicker. This will make the animal more like a real one.

When the pelvis is covered with fur, they gradually move up the body, and then to the head. However, having reached the junction of the cork with the twine, the thread is cut and secured with glue. You need to start wrapping your head from the tip of the nose, performing all the operations one after another.

When the animal's body is completely covered with fur, it's time to move on to the details. The first will be the ears. The frame for them can be made of wire or paper clips. First, a bent paper clip coated with glue is wrapped in one layer of thread.

Then glue is passed over this layer and the ears are given their final shape.

The excess halves of the paper clips are cut off with wire cutters, leaving half a centimeter to secure the ears in the thickness of the head.

The easiest way to make rat eyes is from the same tailor's pins, by biting off the point and gluing them to the desired places on the head.

Whiskers can be made from fishing line, and so that the animal does not inadvertently lose one or more whiskers, they are secured by stitching back and forth.

So that the rat does not have empty hands, you can make a piece of cheese for it from self-hardening yellow plastic, or from another material painted with acrylic paint.

Kitten made of threads

This representative of the feline family has a cheerful character, but it is not at all difficult to make, the main thing is to follow the photographs of the master class, and then everything will definitely work out!

Many housewives will not hide the fact that they have impressive reserves of leftover yarn that are gathering dust idle in the closet. All you have to do is take a creative approach to the accumulated goodness to turn it into excellent, hand-made thread crafts.

A variety of techniques will allow you to make interesting decorative objects, original gifts and simple trinkets.

Craft options

Since ancient times, women have been passionate about creating a wide variety of things from threads. However, modern mothers can always buy any toy they like in the store. But the joy of joint creativity is priceless, so you can sometimes find them doing handicrafts with their children.

What can you make from leftover yarn? For example, decorative elements in the form of vases, lampshades, flowers. Various paintings will look good. Children will be delighted with voluminous toys in the form of fluffy animals.

What will be useful at work?

To understand how to make a craft from threads, you need to have a clear idea of what you will need. It's about the tool and the material.

Each new creation requires a different approach, but the general list will be something like this:

  • yarn (wool or cotton, for example, floss);
  • needle;
  • scissors;
  • PVA glue (needed for creating paintings, lampshades);
  • glue gun (useful for creating animals);
  • sheet of cardboard;
  • wire.

Furry animals

Wool yarn is an excellent material for creating voluminous crafts. It makes furry animals, fluffy yellow chickens and much more.

The toys are just a simple pompom, so it all comes down to the ability to create it. Below we will try to provide detailed instructions on how to make a craft from threads.

Making pompoms is quite simple. First, you should cut out circles from cardboard, the diameter of which will determine the size of future pom-poms. A hole is made in the middle of the resulting blanks. After which the two circles are added to each other.

Next, armed with a needle and thread, you need to tightly wrap the cardboard circles by threading the thread through the hole in the center. The number of turns determines the splendor of the future pompom - the more, the better.

When it is no longer possible to wind, the free end of the thread is cut off, and the thread blank is cut along the entire circumference. It is convenient to use a blade for these purposes.

By spreading the cardboard to the sides, the product is tightly tied in the center. The final stage involves removing the cardboard elements, after which the finished pompom is straightened. Protruding ends and irregularities are removed using scissors.

Pompoms of different sizes will create different body parts of an animal or bird. If you use yellow material, you can create a cute chicken by gluing two pompoms together with hot glue using a gun.

The finishing touch will be the design of the beak and eye. In a similar way, you can make a dog, cat, frog and much more.

Creating paintings

If you have an impressive amount of thread scraps of different colors in your bins, then you can create a beautiful picture from them.

To work you will need cardboard, PVA glue and scissors. Drawing templates can be found on the Internet or prepared yourself. The image should be simple and have large elements.

First, the outline of the future image is drawn on the cardboard. If you have a template, you can paste it directly onto the cardboard. Next, the yarn of the desired color is cut into small pieces using scissors.

For convenience, the finished cuts are placed in separate boxes. Those parts of the future painting where one of the colors will be used are generously smeared with glue, after which they are sprinkled with chopped yarn.

Gently pressing it to the base, achieve gluing; the excess can be blown off or shaken off. The remaining work is done in the same way. Having filled the entire picture with yarn, it is framed.

Interesting options for thread crafts are obtained if the theme of the paintings is simple landscapes and flowers.

Openwork crafts

Below will be presented another master class on crafts made from threads. We're talking about an airy lampshade. To make it you will need:

  • balloon;
  • threads of small thickness (preferably cotton);
  • PVA glue;
  • scissors.

First you need to inflate and tie the balloon tightly. Then its surface is generously lubricated with glue, after which the ball is wrapped with thread. The main thing is that at the end there are no large clearings left on the surface.

The workpiece is left to dry until the next day. Then the ball is deflated and carefully removed from the thread sphere. Next you need to make a hole to place the cartridge inside. Energy-saving light bulbs are optimal because they heat up less than conventional incandescent light bulbs.

Openwork balls are suitable for creating baskets, toys and other decorative elements. You can wrap yarn around a vase, giving it an original appearance.

Decorative flowers

Floss can make very beautiful flowers. The principle of operation is similar to making an openwork lampshade or vase. If there is no suitable container on which to wind the threads, you can use regular crumpled paper. For better results, it is useful to wrap it with tape.

The blanks are wrapped halfway so that petals can be cut out from the resulting cup. To prevent fraying of the ends, a piece of thread is glued to them. The wire makes a good flower stem if you wrap it with yarn of the appropriate color.

When the individual elements of the future flower are ready, they need to be connected and fixed with glue. Thanks to the combination of different sizes and shades you can get excellent bouquets.

Photos of crafts made from threads inspire many with their unusualness and beauty. Anyone can join the ranks of handicraft masters, especially since the hobby is interesting and does not require large financial expenditures.

Creative work with threads and yarn will allow you to escape from the everyday hustle and bustle and give you a lot of pleasant time with your family.
