Fashionable earrings made of felt beads. Earrings made of wool using the wet felting technique Felted earrings

This is a master class for those who have recently picked up wool, of course made a few felted beads and are wondering what else to felt.

My name is Ksenia, I want to show you how you can make earrings by rolling a glass pebble into wool.

1) Take some wool, it’s better to card it, if it’s ribbon, then comb it with a slicker brush. Make clouds from tangled wool fibers. You need to put a pebble (any small pebble, bead, button) on a larger cloud.

2) Cover with a small cloud of wool and felt with a needle along the contour of the pebble. The pebble should not be visible.

3) Tuck the fluffy edges of the wool to the pebble and press it with a needle so that you get a donut along the edge, and a pebble in the middle. For the blue earrings, I put more light wool on the pebble.

4) Now carefully lower the wool balls into soapy water, let them get wet, take them out of the water, squeeze out the excess, lather more if necessary, and gently rub with your hands. You can rub it on the baby bump. When the earrings become denser, you need to rub them harder, you can even crush them and roll them in your hands.

5) When the felt has become elastic, the earrings need to be washed in hot and cold water and the moisture removed with a towel.

6) You can run the needle along the edge of the pebble again (this is optional).

7) Now we free our buried treasure: with sharp scissors we cut the wool in the center of the pebble, there is no need to cut out circles, just cut a little. And we begin to process the incision with a needle. The needle moves almost parallel to the pebble. Gradually the hole widens. Expand to the required size. In the yellow earrings, I made holes on both sides of the stone so that it would shine through beautifully.

8) At this stage the felting process is completed. Now you can further decorate the earrings; I embroidered them with beads.

9) All that remains is to attach the earrings to the earrings: you need to make a hole in the wool with a thick needle, insert
small connecting ring (move to the side so as not to deform). With two rings and
With earrings I turned wool balls into earrings.

Now you can wear them! My earrings turned out to be 3.5 cm in diameter.

I will be very glad if my little MK inspires someone to new woolen feats.

Usually such woolen jewelry - beads, earrings - are worn in winter, since they are made of wool and even provide a little warmth.

Today I will tell you about my invention - these earrings are out of season - they do not heat or make wool, since they are framed in cool metal - they can be worn at any time of the year! :)

Felting wool jewelry- simple earrings with a bow and a metal frame, made by yourself.

Materials for felting wool jewelry

  • Felted balls of different colored or plain wool (made using dry and wet felting- see the link to the article about manufacturing below)
  • Earring earrings - 2 pieces
  • Metal Spiral Wire Spheres for Jewelry Making

Or replace the last two points with ready-made earrings that you want to remake, as in my case. You can use earrings from old broken or unnecessary earrings.

Felting base for decorations

You can easily make felted balls of one color or multi-color yourself at home using the method of dry and then wet felting (or even in washing machine). This article describes in detail the process of felting beads from wool with your own hands.

If you have unnecessary leftover yarn from knitting or altering knitted items in the form of tiny balls, then they can be used, then you can save on unspun wool for felting and use these balls as the basis for a felted ball bead.

I’ve been eyeing these spiral metal wire spheres in the store for a long time; they are used to create jewelry. They look interesting and are mainly used as a pendant.

The metal is flexible, if it is briefly moved apart in the middle, then one large or several small beads can be placed inside this sphere; their diameter should be greater than the distance between adjacent turns of wire.

I have long wanted to purchase such spheres, but there were no burning ideas for creativity in the field of jewelry and costume jewelry.

On the occasion of the summer sale at the C&A store, I bought ready-made earrings with exactly the same metal spiral spheres for only 50 cents a pair. I was lucky - there was a 50% discount on already reduced goods, at first, apparently, my earrings were discounted to 1 euro, and I bought them at half the price. If there were more in stock, I would buy more, but alas.

Felted felt earrings

Inside were three small beads of indistinct color - well, you don’t need those anywhere. I didn’t find a large bead at home, but after the first felting experience I still had a few felted red blanks left in the box. The result was amazing, eye-catching earrings, made with your own hands.

It was only necessary to move the wire rings apart in the middle of the sphere and insert a felt bead of a suitable diameter inside. From the outside you won’t even immediately understand what’s inside. The combination of textures looks very good - fluffy wool beads and strips of shiny silver metal.

I've never seen anything like this before. Maybe patent it? :) I saw jewelry of a slightly different type - there a special round part of the earring's bow was glued to the felted wool bead itself.

It also looks good, especially if the balls are made of brightly colored wool. Although, perhaps this is just my preference - I like bright, rich colors, simple but elegant things and decorations, nothing superfluous, but already quite original.

I can imagine in one set two different earrings with different colored felt “fillings”, and a necklace consisting of the same two color combinations, you can also make a matching bracelet. Earrings are made from two or more felt balls, of the same or different sizes; they can be located on the same line or in some other way.

Now the idea has come to make a necklace for the new earrings, also from wool beads, for example, without a sphere and several in a “round cage”, such an alternation. The idea has not yet taken final shape, I will think about what to use - on a thread or jewelry cable.

To do this, you will have to buy several of these spheres. As far as I know, since they are used for pendants, there is only one ring to which they are attached, on one side. I don’t know whether it will come to felting; I still have a small supply of red wool beads of the same diameter.

I wonder if it is possible to make such necessary accessories at home yourself? Probably the wire is wound around a ball with grooves... I don't know.

My new felted jewelry - earrings - are multifunctional - at any time the “filling” of them can be taken out and replaced with another, suitable for a specific outfit and occasion.

What is also important is that felted wool is very light, beads of this size would be too heavy for the earlobes, but these are almost weightless! Felting wool jewelry is a very enjoyable activity; you roll balls of wool in your hands, which then turn into something special.

Felting wool jewelry is not limited to just beads and earrings. Try felting small woolen “toys” - like the one shown on the left. These beads can be used in any way. For decorating a room, clothing or a Christmas tree New Year, as a basis for making jewelry for yourself - a felted brooch with a clasp.

There is also a master class on wool felting on this site.

This master class was prepared for you by a Japanese craftswoman living in London, her name is Emi.
To make these earrings you will need:

  • wool
  • caps for beads
  • earrings and stud pins
  • for felting
  • round pliers, wire cutters
  • felting support (foam sponge)

Step 1: Separate a small piece of wool, roll it into a tight ball and use a felting needle to begin felting the wool.

Step 2. To speed up the process, you can fasten several needles together using an elastic band.

Step 3. Felt until the wool forms a dense, springy ball with a diameter suitable for the bead cap. If you want the ball to be as smooth as possible, roll it with damp, soapy hands, rinse and dry.

Step 4. Make a hole in the bead using a thick needle, insert a pin and put on a cap.

Step 5. Using pliers, make a loop, cut off the excess with wire cutters. And prepare the shwenza.

Handmade decorations made from felt and felt are at the peak of popularity this season. And make jewelry from felted wool It’s not at all difficult to do it yourself.

If you have already gotten acquainted with the master class on wet felting wool beads, I will be happy to show you how you can make stylish, fashionable earrings with your own hands from felted beads in no time.

So, I already have two bright red wool beads. In addition to this, to make earrings I will need:

2 small melange plastic beads in red and coral tones

thick sewing needle

round pliers

wire cutters (I use pliers with wire cutters)

Copper-look jewelry fittings:

6 small flower bead huggers

2 bell bead huggers

2 hooks for earrings

What I made in my first lesson on wet felting wool is not, in fact, a bead yet. It's just two wool balls.

To make earrings, I make a through hole in each felted wool ball using a thick needle. My balls turned out to be very dense, so this process requires some physical effort.

But now I have two wool beads.

On a jewelry pin I string one small bead hugger in the shape of a flower, then a wool bead, and on top - a bell-shaped hugger. By the way, instead of a bead made from a wool ball, you can also use a wool strawberry from a master class on dry felting for beginners to make earrings.

I reduce the pin by removing the excess part using wire cutters. Then I use round pliers to bend the upper end of the pin into a loop. As a result, I get the bottom block for the earrings.

At the end of the second pin, I again make a loop with round pliers. Without clamping it all the way, I attach the second pin to the finished lower block of the earring.

Now I tighten the loop at the lower end of the second pin, and then string a hugger, a small plastic melange bead and another flower-shaped hugger onto the pin.

As when making the lower block for the earring, I shorten the pin and bend its upper end into a loop with pliers.

I attach the resulting bead pendant to the earring and tighten the loop on the top pin. I make the second earring in the same way. And now the fashionable earrings made from felted beads are ready!

The wool earrings turned out to be simply weightless. In addition, they look very impressive. So even a charming model from the cover of a fashion magazine is ready to try them on.

Wet felting of jewelry

Step four

Now it's time for you to learn how to do wet felting. It is not difficult. To do this, you need to wet the wool on the knitting needles with hot soapy water. And rub well between your palms. But this procedure must be done carefully so that the wool does not slip off the knitting needle and so that the shape of the spiral is preserved.

Drying the product

Step five

When the wool is dry, remove the spirals from the knitting needles and trim the ends of the wool. Thus, you have made your own felting jewelry, namely earrings, which can be complemented with a pendant made using the same technique.

Step six

Insert a ring into the upper end of the spiral. Attach an earring hook to it. Squeeze the ring tightly. Finish the second earring in the same way. Lastly, carefully connect the spirals using thread and needle.
