DIY vintage pincushion. Master class with step-by-step photos Vintage style pincushions

DIY vintage pincushion. There are never too many pincushions, especially beautiful ones made with your own hands.
Therefore, here is another fantasy on this topic.

You will need:
- A couple of pieces of fabric, approximately 20-20 cm,
- Sintepooh,
- Scotch,
- Two unnecessary CDs,
- Scissors,
- Pencil,
- Oil paints,
- Braid,
- Button,
- Threads,
- Tassels,
- A solution of coffee, PVA glue, water and vanilla with cinnamon.
And one hour of free time)))

To begin, take pieces of fabric, iron them, apply discs to the wrong side and trace them.
One fabric will go to the lower part of the needle bed and will be intended for one disk (you can take regular calico). At this stage, we will leave allowances of one centimeter relative to the circled diameter of the disk.

For the upper part of the needle bed, take a piece of cotton fabric. On the wrong side we also outline the disk, while allowances are needed of 4-5cm; you can simply outline the plate with a larger diameter.

Now we have two circles of different diameters.
The next step is to sew on the edge of the small circle with small stitches; it is better to prepare the thread longer, so that in the future it will be easier to regulate the tension of the thread.

As a result, we should end up with a bag like this.

We proceed in the same way with a circle of larger diameter. We fill the resulting bag with synthetic fluff.

Pressing the synthetic fluff on top with a disk, tighten the thread. We glue the hole in the disk with a small piece of tape so that the synthetic fluff does not break out through it.

Let's see how tightly stuffed the top is; if it seems like it's not enough, loosen the thread a little and add the required amount of synthetic fluff into the hole formed, and so on until the result pleases us.

Now we are happy with everything, it’s time to tighten and secure the thread. For greater reliability, you can stretch the thread around the perimeter, slightly pulling the edges of the fabric towards each other.

This is how the pie turned out))

We paint the resulting workpiece with a solution of coffee, cinnamon and vanillin. And leave it to dry. Particularly impatient people may resort to using a hairdryer or central heating. You shouldn’t put it in the oven; the discs may not withstand the high temperature.

Now you can start the most enjoyable part - DECORATION!

Sew the ribbon at the bottom, closing the seam left when sewing the two parts together.

We put the ends of the braid in a bow, and sew a button in the center, although everything may be completely different for you, depending on your imagination.

The next step is to tint our pincushion, for which we squeeze a little oil paint onto a piece of paper, wet the brush and rub it a little on the sheet to remove excess paint.

We tint the braid around the perimeter, creating the effect of antiquity. Let's walk over the leaves a little more to dull their whiteness).

That's ALL, our new pincushion is ready!

First, let's take a closer look at our interior. We are creative people, and therefore in any case we will create a masterpiece. But it’s no good to hide a masterpiece somewhere in a wall, in a cabinet, or somewhere else. The masterpiece must be kept in a visible place, causing admiration and white curls among visitors. This means that the pincushion must be not only a place for sticking needles, but also a decorative item, an interior decoration. That's why we carefully examine the environment around us, determine the dominant colors and style. And we decide what color our pincushion will be. If the room is decorated in calm, light, pastel colors, then you should not make a bright pincushion. It will be inappropriate. So, we've decided. Now the fabric. There are always some scraps or old sheets, shirts, etc. in the house. Anything will do except synthetics and knitwear. We don't need much. For the main part of the needle bed, it is better to choose a thicker fabric. This can be determined by touch. OK it's all over Now! Get to work! We measure out a rectangle of approximately 21 x 8 cm on the fabric. Draw it with a pencil along the wrong side and cut it out.

We put the short sides together (face to face), take a needle and thread to match the fabric and begin to sew with a “back needle” seam (remembering the labor lessons along the way). This seam imitates machine stitching.

The seam allowance is 1 cm, if we are afraid of missing, we draw a line with a pencil (I have a special disappearing marker). We try to make smaller stitches. Even though we don’t know how to sew, we try very hard. After all, poorly done work will not bring us satisfaction. Sew to the end, fasten the thread. Now we smooth the seam with an iron (this is mandatory), if necessary, you can lightly moisten it with water.

The result was a cylinder. Until we turn it inside out, we leave it as is. Now we cut out the bottom from the same fabric. The diameter is about 7-7.5 cm. You can use a compass. No compass? No problem! You can find a suitable glass, mug, saucer, lid, jar. In general, something round of suitable diameter. We trace this round along the wrong side of the fabric and cut out a circle. Now carefully pin this circle to the bottom of the cylinder.

Now carefully sew on the bottom, making a seam allowance of 0.5 cm and stretching and straightening it well during the sewing process.

We sew again with a “back with a needle” seam. Sewn on? Carefully turn it right side out and use your fingers to thoroughly smooth and straighten the seam. Something is already emerging!

Don't forget to start being proud of yourself! (it is necessary!)

Now turn the top edge inward by 1 cm and secure it with pins.

Now we begin to show our Creative skills. You can simply sew the top edge with a “back needle” seam, stepping back 0.5 cm from the edge with matching threads (as before). You can sew with threads of a contrasting color. You can make some decorative embroidery stitch using floss threads. You can sew on a braid. Etc. and so on. I'll sew on the lace. Something felt like romance!

If you decorate the edge with braid or lace, then at the end sew it so that it overlaps. This will look neater.

Here you go. The feeling of pride in ourselves fills us more and more! Let’s put this “glass” aside for now and work on the top of the needle bed. Cut a circle with a diameter of 13-14 cm from another fabric.

We sew the circle along the edge with a “forward needle” seam. Like this.

Lightly tighten the edge with thread.

We don’t cut the thread, we still need it! We put some filling inside the mug.

The best filler, of course, is synthetic. Where can I get it? Well, you can buy it, of course. You can gut an old synthetic padding pillow (with shouts of “You will answer me for everything!”). You can make hara-kiri your favorite soft toy her child (Let's see, dear, what's inside her). In the end, you can put cotton wool or finely chopped pieces of fabric.

Let's return to our “bucket”. Fill it about 1/3 with some cereal (buckwheat, peas, rice, beans). This is so that the pincushion does not tumble, but stands firmly on the shelf.

There is also a padding pad on top.

Now we need some kind of string. A jute cord will do. Twine will do too. We cut off 2 pieces of 10 centimeters each. We attach them with pins to the walls of the needle bed (to the inside).

We place our ball with padding polyester on top, push it deeper so that only the top is visible. If it doesn’t fit well, we tighten it by the thread.

And carefully, with small, imperceptible stitches, we sew the top of the needle bed to the walls. Like this.

That's all!

What? Can't you believe your eyes? Imagine, you sewed this! Yes, yes, with the same pens that you thought so badly about. Well, you can now put your masterpiece on the shelf. And you can make it even more masterpiece. Decorate it somehow. Embroider some simple flower with floss. Or sew on buttons, beads, beads. Just take a piece of fabric and write something life-affirming with a gel pen. Then sew this piece with a needle-forward stitch. Or just glue it with Moment Crystal glue.

Now we put our masterpiece in the most prominent place.

Master class with step by step photos"Vintage pincushion."

Target: Make a pincushion in a vintage style.
Task: formation of aesthetic taste.

It is no secret that handmade products for interior decoration have been in great demand and popularity in recent years. One of them can be a beautiful and original pincushion, which you can easily make with your own hands. This is a very necessary thing for any housewife and original gift on holiday. But why vintage, you ask.
I really like antique items. The word vintage means an artificial recreation of the past. That is, creating things in a falsely ancient style. This style helps to depict things of a certain era, but at least twenty-five years old.
To make a needle case we will need the following tools and materials:

Scissors, glue gun, brushes, foam rubber, threads, needle, tea leaves, cup and saucer, acrylic paint white and brown, padding polyester, lace, ribbon, small artificial flowers, semi-pearls, calico size 20 by 20 cm, thin wire.

Progress:

We paint the cup and saucer with white acrylic paint and dry it thoroughly with a hairdryer. Apply 2 layers of white paint, letting each layer dry

We dye lace and calico in tea leaves to obtain a yellowish tint. Thus, we artificially aged the fabric.

After drying the material, take the calico and stitch the needle forward and stitch the fabric around the perimeter. Then we tighten the thread, leaving a large enough hole for stuffing with padding polyester.

We collect the lace using a needle and thread, leaving a hole equal to the diameter of the top of the cup.

Insert a calico ball into the cup and fix it with glue.

Glue the lace frill along the edge of the cup.
